The New York Auto Show opens its doors to the public Friday April 3rd with a grand display of over 1000 vehicles. BMW is standing out above the crowd with several special vehicles paying homage to their history.

We have managed to get some photos of the upcoming Alpina 6 Series Gran Coupe while it was out testing on public roadways. There isn't much covered up on this test mule but you can be assured that the final product is going to be everything you would expect from an Alpina version of a BMW.
The biggest change? Our sources indicate that there might be about 100 more horsepower being coaxed out of the stock 4.4-liter V8 that is typically found in a 650i giving it approximately 545 horsepower!

Alpina has released the F30 3 Series based Alpina B3 Bi-Turbo. Powered by a twin turbo 3.0 (N54 anyone?) engine making 410hp that sends it from 0-62 in just 4.2 seconds. Beyond the massive power increase over the BMW 335i the B3 sports a full Alpina body work including front and rear spoilers and 20" signature Alpina wheels. Inside the interior gets Alpina tweaks including green accent stitching and Alpina badges.

The happy conclusion of the comprehensive restoration of a historic vehicle is invariably awaited with excited anticipation. The end of September 2012 marked the completion of another such project: a 1972 BMW 2000 Touring, completely rebuilt in the BMW Classic Customer Workshop to as-new condition, was ceremoniously handed over to its owner - former President of the Board of Directors of the Hilti Group, Michael Hilti - against the backdrop of the "standard" vehicle delivery procedure at BMW Welt.

Is there a better place to officially launch the BMW M5 and BMW M6 Coupe than at Laguna Seca? Probably not. We were on hand to see just how great these cars are.
