BMW has started a mobility revolution with the launch of the electric i3. A premium, compact, zero emissions, vehicle built from an industry first combination of of carbon fiber, thermoplastics and aluminum.
The i3 is propelled in traditional BMW fashion from the rear wheels. A BMW design and built electric motor sits directly over the rear axles and produced 170 horsepower with 184 lb-ft of torque available from 0 RPMs.

Bimmerfest gets the first look at the BMW i3 at the world premiere in New York City. The i3 is driven by a rear mounted 170 horsepower electric motor that is powered by a 22 kWh battery pack stored in an aluminum Drive Module.

Teams from both companies worked jointly to roll out Combo DC Fast Charge infrastructure in the coming months. The first vehicles to offer the new Combo DC Fast Charge connector will be the BMW i3 and the Chevrolet Spark EV.

Spotted in Solar Orange metallic paint the all electric BMW i3 goes on sale in Europe in July with production vehicles hitting Euro showrooms in October. US customers will have to wait until 2014. Converted Euro pricing puts the starting price around $53,500.

We have the first pictures of the BMW i3 production line in Leipzig. With full production starting in August the finish touches and testing are in the works. The i3 arrives in European dealerships in October, US buyers will be forced to wait until early 2014 for their i3s.

The all electric BMW i3 will go on sale in Europe in July with a starting price of roughly $53,500 USD. The range extender version with a 650cc electric generator starts around $58,000 USD. Production i3 arrive in dealership in October.

Don't let the hybrid stickers fool you, this is a 100% electric X1 Sport Activity Vehicle that was spied out on the streets during winter testing. Our spy photographers were tipped off that this was a 100% EV by the lack of a exhaust pipe. To be sure they waited till the test driver took off to confirm that there is indeed no gasoline engine in this car.
