Today BMW announced the all-new BMW X1 Sports Activity Vehicle. In its second generation, the new MY 2016 BMW X1 builds on the success of its predecessor with more power, and interior and cargo space.

The final test mules of the next generation X1, chassis code F48, were spied testing on the Nurburgring and in the Swedish snow. This means we should be getting close to seeing it in the sheet metal.

Don't let the hybrid stickers fool you, this is a 100% electric X1 Sport Activity Vehicle that was spied out on the streets during winter testing. Our spy photographers were tipped off that this was a 100% EV by the lack of a exhaust pipe. To be sure they waited till the test driver took off to confirm that there is indeed no gasoline engine in this car.
