The launch of the revolutionary BMW i8 is upon us. That means that we now have our hands on pricing and ordering guides for the upcoming BMW hybrid that goes on sale at US dealership starting this fall.
The BMW i8 starts at $135,700.00 plus $950 destination and handling fee and for 90% of the deliveries they will be pre-spec'd with the optional Pure Impulse World pushing the price up another $10,800.

The BMW i8 is quite possibly the most important BMW that has been produced in recent memory and is certainly full of next generation technology. Whether you want to talk about the extensive use of carbon fiber reinforced plastic or the intelligent hybrid technology, there is little doubt that we are seeing a glimpse into the future with this new model from BMW.
This hybrid sports car has managed to bring concept into reality with the production model hitting dealerships this fall with a starting price of $135,700 (plus $950 destination and handling). Good luck finding one though as dealerships have been managing wait lists for nearly a year.

BMW will finally be starting deliveries of their vaunted BMW i8 starting this June. The all-new BMW i8 is being produced at the Leipzig plant and will provide incredible fuel economy coupled with amazing performance.
The BMW i8 will propel you from 0 to 62 in 4.4 seconds with an EU test cycle average of 2.1 litres/100 km (134.5 mpg imp) and CO2 emissions of 49 g/km. The i8 is powered by a plug-in hybrid system comprised of a 170 kW/231 hp, 320 Nm (236 lb-ft) three-cylinder petrol engine with BMW TwinPower Turbo technology and a 96 kW/131 hp, 250 Nm (184 lb-ft) hybrid synchronous electric motor.

BMW has some amazing cars to highlight the 2014 Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance including the BMW-Powered McLaren F1 GTR featured in class of McLaren cars, BMW Group Classic display including the David Hobbs 320 Turbo race car as well as BMW M1 and first generation M3 and 3 Series Convertible.
New BMWs will also be on display including the upcoming 2015 BMW M4 Coupe and 2015 BMW i8.

BMW has a problem, they need more carbon fiber. Initial orders of the BMW i3 topped 11,000 globally and the 2014 i8 production run is already sold out. They need more CF to continue building cars.

Bimmerfest has been at the Los Angeles Auto Show all day covering the new releases from BMW and MINI. The stars of the show included the BMW 4 Series Convertible, BMW i8 production version, BMW Concept X4, MINI Cooper and even the BMW K 1600 GTL Exclusive motorcycle.

While we were in Pebble Beach taking in the new BMW Concept M4 Coupe, we were also treated to an early preview of the production BMW i8 super car that will be making it's public debut in a couple weeks at the Frankfurt Auto Show.
While our cameras were not invited to the preview, we did manage to get a good look around the car and are very impressed with just how close it resembles the concept version.

"They" keep saying it will come out in 2013, so let's assume it's a 2014 model year, and that it comes out in 3Q 2013... that's still only 1.3 years from now, and still no indication of price? The i8 gets more price talk. I'm really considering a Tesla, but it's as big as a 5-series (which we already have), and expensive (base model is $50K + 1.5 sunroof + 1.5 leather + 1.5 jumpseats)... AFTER a $7500...
