The x means it is available for the above price. It does say that ZL1 is required which is the premium package. The luxury package includes the HK but so long as you get the premium package you can add on the HK for $875

Got it. I was referring to the coupe, my bad. So if I wanted M Sport, I would need to M Sport + Premium Package + HK?

I just checked the coupe pricing guide to make sure it was the same as the GC. Yes to get HK on a 430 with M-Sport Package (ZMP) you also need to order the Premium Package (ZL1) which also includes the Essentials Package (ZL0) then pay an extra $875 and opt into the HK (688).

Unless you are looking at a 440, remember that adding M sport to a new 430 will come with a reduced residual of 1 percent from the "standard" one. Adding M sport + the executive package reduces the residual 2 percent I believe.

So, plan to get the 440, or plan to pay more to get m sport than a standard "no line".

Has anyone heard when the redesign of the 3 and 4 series cars might be on sale in the US? Could that be for the 2019 model year?

jrubens 03-12-2017 03:49 PM

I've been told that US spec 4 series LCI begin production in March.

Maybe in 2019 as a 2020 model. As pointed out we're just getting the 4 Series mid-life cycle LCI update.

Tim,

I get it, a redesign coming out in 2019 and being called a 2020. Do you know if they will still be offering the hard top vert. in the redesign at that time? I hear that they want to get rid of the hard top style and go to a soft top to save on costs and weight. As you may have read, I was going to buy a 18 4 series vert. but now may wait until 2019 for the redisign if they still will be offering the hard top in the vert. configuration. The hard top is sort of unique and I don't want the rag top version. Any info. that you can come up with will be appreciated. Thanks.

The 4 series lags 1 year in the redesign cycle. 2019 is for the 3 series and 2020 would be for the 4 series.

Hi TIm,

I appreciate all the info. that you have provided on the 2018 4 series convertible. Because of you I have been able to do a complete estimate of what I want in the 18 vert. with the colors and options I want. I now have another thought. Have you heard when BMW is going to do a complete restyling of the 4 series and if that new revision will include the hard top for the convertible rather than the soft top. I want the hard top feature on the convertible rather than the soft top. I really don't want to buy an 18 and then have it restyled shortly thereafter dating my 18 model. I'll wait for the restyling to come out if they will still have the hard top convertible option available. Otherwise, I'll buy the 2018 model. As always, I appreciate your knowledge and input and hope that you will have this info. also. Thanks.

Joe

The rumors all state that the 4 Series convertible will revert to a soft top. We haven't seen any test mules yet so I can't confirm that 100% but it seems likely.

No other manufacture has done this, I think BMW would be making a big mistake.

I just visited the BMWUSA website and it is still not showing the 440i grand coupe with the new midnight blue leather and the picture is still showing the old spedo/tach look. We are almost at the end of March, when do they plan to add this to the build it now? It doesn't make any sense. If ordering went live March 1, why is the website not reflecting LCI ordering specs?

Because the LCI isn't in production yet....:bigpimp:

Incorrect information. Production started this month and BMW websites outside of North America have configurators showing the 4 series LCI. See screen capture from BMW UK site in attachment.

Oh boy so the UK config shows it but doesn't do people who want to look at the US config any good, just like the OP asked.

That's a hell of a combination! You're going to love it and driving it in Germany. Good luck with it.

Tim, I've been told that the pricing guide and configuration guide have both been revised. Apparently, I was the only person in the universe who had any interest in Nutmeg Extended Merino, and it's been dropped. I'm hoping that Black Extended Merino has taken its place, as Black is available in other markets. Any chance you could post the updated guides? Just in case there are any other changes? Thanks!

Because this is the way BMWUSA always does it. They want the dealers to be able to clear out the 2017's, so the current model is in the configurator, even though you can't build one to spec. No clue why they do this. Maybe so if your dealer finds a car on a boat, at the VPC or at a center with whom he can swap, you can "build" it? :dunno::dunno:

Looks like BMW is really hitting you harder on options for the 430i vs the 440i. The Harman Kardon is the prime example - now you MUST order the ZL1 Premium Pkg to get the upgraded sound (comes standard I believe on the 440i) which is also $300 higher on the 430i.

I optioned out both the same way (leather, premium for the nav, HK, M Sport) and the 430i was $1200 more for the same choices.

Ouch!

I think they're trying to tell you something! Go with the 440. I think you'll be pleased with the smoothness of the 6 and the goodies that come as standard equipment on this model.

Well.... if they're going to twist my arm....
I'm definitely leaning to the 440i, there's no such thing as too much power and ED might bring it close to 430i MSRP anyway. I'm just biding my time to see it in Sunset Orange!

Me too C Guy. I'm contemplating the vert. in Snapper Rocks Blue with the Cognac interior. I'm torn between the Luxury package with all of the bling and the M Sport package with the better suspension. I think the Luxury P will win out because frankly, I don't drive as fast as you use too and I like the bling and the look of the Cognac interior going halfway up the dash. I think I'll be happier with that combo and I'm sure the car with the Luxury package will drive just fine. No rush really. I'm driving a 2005 Chevy SSR in Aqua Blur that I bought new in 10/04 when I retired that's sharp as a tack and as you know is also a hard top convertible. I'll probably wait until the dealers and BMW are not so fat and happy with the new model coming out and will be offering more discounts than they are now.

My Best,
Joe:)
