2018 BMW 4 Series LCI Coupe, Convertible, GC - Pricing & Ordering guides

2018 BMW 4 series LCI

BMW has released the pricing and ordering guides for the 2018 BMW 4 Series LCI Coupe, Convertible and Gran Coupe as well as a comprehensive list of updates that come with the mid-lifecycle update (LCI). Use information, pricing and ordering guides to help you build your 4 Series BMW and to calculate invoice pricing.

The MY2018 4 Series receives a Lifecycle Impulse (LCI) facelift as of March 2017 production. In addition to enhancements made at the factory to strengthen the visual and perceived quality inside and out, the equipment offering has changed. A packaging strategy has bee implemented with a tiered structure, and appropriate pricing levels. The 2018 4 Series now feature the following standard equipment:
  • 3AG Rearview Camera
  • 6AK ConnectedDrive Services

The newly created ZL0 Essentials Package will also be included at no charge for the MY2018 4 Series:
  • 322 Comfort Access keyless entry for 430i models (as this is currently standard on 440i models)
  • 508 Park Distance Control for both 430i and 440i models
  • 655 SiriusXM Satellite Radio with 1 year AllAccess Subscription for 430i models (as this is currently standard on 440i models)

The objective of these changes is to:
  • Address market competitiveness
  • Improve residual value
  • Structured and differentiated vehicles
  • Create vehicles that addresses the need for a dealership advertised payment
  • Premium package that fulfills typically equipped specifications
  • Provide the 4 Series with visual differentiation depending on packaging: M Sport or Luxury
  • Packages for a fully equipped vehicle

LCI Changes: Exterior
  • New Front bumper design: more width to the air intakes, which express a broader stance
  • Air intakes in high-gloss black (chrome for Luxury Package)
  • New standard Bi-LED headlight design with LED daytime running lights and LED fog lights
  • New optional Adaptive LED headlight design: Icon light with hexagonal outline
  • New Rear bumper design, which expresses a broader stance
  • New Rear LED taillights

2018 BMW 4 Series LCI exterior

LCI Changes: Interior
  • New navigation: iDrive 6.0, which includes a new user interface with logic like the all-new 5 Series, but without touchscreen functionality
  • Chrome Accents near the buttons for the electric windows, and surrounding the Front and Rear Air vents
  • Upgrade to the 430i Sport Leather Steering wheel: the leather on the outer rim features a modified lining, giving the steering wheel a softer touch and better grip
  • New optional trim: Aluminum Carbon with Pearl Chrome highlight (4MN)
  • Double-stitched seam on the instrument panel, which accentuates the interior's driver-focused geometry
  • The appearance and operation of the turn-signal indicator and wiper arm have changed
  • Center-stack in high-gloss black with ambient surround lighting

the guides dont appear to reference the 6wb instrument cluster??

keylime503 02-06-2017 02:10 PM

I know it's because it's now mandated by law, but it's still incredible to finally see rear-view camera standard.

jhm5 02-06-2017 02:19 PM

Do we really believe that metallic paint has gone down from the present $700 to $550?

Eagle11 02-06-2017 04:45 PM

I like the new packages it seems BMW has finally decided to group options together that make sense.

Closem Joe 02-07-2017 12:14 PM

Thank you Tim, the info. you sent out yesterday on the 18 4 series is a big help. I'm interested in the vert. and have to digest all of the ins and outs of your info. Yes, BMW has lowered the price of the metallic paint but they more than make up for it in forcing you to buy certain packages when you want a particular option:thumbdwn:. So, you really have to digest all of your info. and read the notes carefully to see what is in and what is out. Thanks again.

Regards,
Joe:)

I just added a bunch more info. There are a lot of good changes for the 4 Series coming in MY2018.

Damn, and I just optioned out an M-sport for June ED/PCD hours ago. Back to the drawing board....good thing it's fun!! Thanks for the info!

viator092 02-07-2017 02:25 PM

The 704M's show a front tire size as 255/40. Could that be a typo? Seems 225/40s are the usual front tires for mixed performance summer tires.

Can't wait for the configurator to be updated and those RVs published. Need to get an order in in the next 30-40 days!

I've been eagerly awaiting this as I am planning to order a 440i xDrive Convertible.
I don't see a Cold Weather package (Heated Seats, Heated Steering Wheel, Neck heater). At least the options are there. Also missing are the Black Kidney Grilles and the M Performance Power and Sound package.
The online configurator looks to be 2017 still as well - but updated.

Fun to see this stuff as it comes out!

Anyone know, please, whether the Snapper Rocks Blue will be available on the 420 SE Gran Coupe, or only on the M Sport?

The BMW BYO site only has 2017 series 4 vehicles to configure. I'm sure that it will be updated shortly for the 2018's.

I don't think that we have the 420 SE Gran Coupe in the States. According to Tim's new info., the models we have are the 430i & X and the 440i and X in Coupes, Grand Coupes and of course the convertible. Snapper Rocks Blue is available for all of them including the ZMP package. It's one hell of a color! Estorial Blue is still only available with the ZMP package. Hope this helps!

Is there some way to see a picture of the new 2018 interior trims? The configurator tool on bmwusa.com as of today is still the 2017 version, so it doesn't show the 2018 trims. In the 2018 4 series, there is a new trim called "Aluminum Dark Carbon with Pearl Gloss Chrome highlight", which doesn't exist in the 2017 version. Also, the 2017 trim called "Brushed Aluminum trim with Black high-gloss accent" appears to be gone in 2018, as it is not listed in the 2018 ordering guide. Is there any website that shows the 2018 trims so that we can see them before ordering? Thanks.

Pb12in 02-21-2017 10:25 PM

It's interesting that adaptive headlights are not standard in 2018. Adaptive Xenons were standard on my 2007 e92, and were standard through the 2017 4-series as well. Now adaptive LEDs are bundled with a bunch of stuff I have no interest in, at $2100.

The last one of the first group is aluminum dark carbon with pearl gloss chrome.

Indeed it does Speed. I did my 18 440i Vert and it came out great in the new Snapper Rocks Blue in the Luxury model with the Cognac interior going halfway up the dash. A knockout! Can't wait for the USA version to come out so I can understand what they are saying. Thanks again.;)

UK site now has LCI so you can see it all in English. They dont get the 440 in xdrive so you have to choose RWD to make a 440.

Thanks Speed. I'm going to buy a 440 vert. and that info. is not available on their site. It comes up as an error. Maybe they're working on it. I'll try again later.

Am I reading correctly that, on a 430i, you now can't order H/K sound unless you get the Luxury Package? I'm not sure I'm following what the little "x"s signify. Seems really weird to not let you get M Sport + H/K.

You didnt see which model but I'm reading the GC guide....

The x means it is available for the above price. It does say that ZL1 is required which is the premium package. The luxury package includes the HK but so long as you get the premium package you can add on the HK for $875

Got it. I was referring to the coupe, my bad. So if I wanted M Sport, I would need to M Sport + Premium Package + HK?

I just checked the coupe pricing guide to make sure it was the same as the GC. Yes to get HK on a 430 with M-Sport Package (ZMP) you also need to order the Premium Package (ZL1) which also includes the Essentials Package (ZL0) then pay an extra $875 and opt into the HK (688).

Unless you are looking at a 440, remember that adding M sport to a new 430 will come with a reduced residual of 1 percent from the "standard" one. Adding M sport + the executive package reduces the residual 2 percent I believe.

So, plan to get the 440, or plan to pay more to get m sport than a standard "no line".

Has anyone heard when the redesign of the 3 and 4 series cars might be on sale in the US? Could that be for the 2019 model year?

I've been told that US spec 4 series LCI begin production in March.

Maybe in 2019 as a 2020 model. As pointed out we're just getting the 4 Series mid-life cycle LCI update.

Tim,

I get it, a redesign coming out in 2019 and being called a 2020. Do you know if they will still be offering the hard top vert. in the redesign at that time? I hear that they want to get rid of the hard top style and go to a soft top to save on costs and weight. As you may have read, I was going to buy a 18 4 series vert. but now may wait until 2019 for the redisign if they still will be offering the hard top in the vert. configuration. The hard top is sort of unique and I don't want the rag top version. Any info. that you can come up with will be appreciated. Thanks.

The 4 series lags 1 year in the redesign cycle. 2019 is for the 3 series and 2020 would be for the 4 series.

Hi TIm,

I appreciate all the info. that you have provided on the 2018 4 series convertible. Because of you I have been able to do a complete estimate of what I want in the 18 vert. with the colors and options I want. I now have another thought. Have you heard when BMW is going to do a complete restyling of the 4 series and if that new revision will include the hard top for the convertible rather than the soft top. I want the hard top feature on the convertible rather than the soft top. I really don't want to buy an 18 and then have it restyled shortly thereafter dating my 18 model. I'll wait for the restyling to come out if they will still have the hard top convertible option available. Otherwise, I'll buy the 2018 model. As always, I appreciate your knowledge and input and hope that you will have this info. also. Thanks.

The rumors all state that the 4 Series convertible will revert to a soft top. We haven't seen any test mules yet so I can't confirm that 100% but it seems likely.

No other manufacture has done this, I think BMW would be making a big mistake.

We are almost at the end of March, when do they plan to add this to the build it now? It doesn't make any sense. If ordering went live March 1, why is the website not reflecting LCI ordering specs?

Incorrect information. Production started this month and BMW websites outside of North America have configurators showing the 4 series LCI. See screen capture from BMW UK site in attachment.

Oh boy so the UK config shows it but doesn't do people who want to look at the US config any good, just like the OP asked.

Tim, I've been told that the pricing guide and configuration guide have both been revised. Apparently, I was the only person in the universe who had any interest in Nutmeg Extended Merino, and it's been dropped. I'm hoping that Black Extended Merino has taken its place, as Black is available in other markets. Any chance you could post the updated guides? Just in case there are any other changes? Thanks!

Because this is the way BMWUSA always does it. They want the dealers to be able to clear out the 2017's, so the current model is in the configurator, even though you can't build one to spec. No clue why they do this. Maybe so if your dealer finds a car on a boat, at the VPC or at a center with whom he can swap, you can "build" it? :dunno::dunno:

Looks like BMW is really hitting you harder on options for the 430i vs the 440i. The Harman Kardon is the prime example - now you MUST order the ZL1 Premium Pkg to get the upgraded sound (comes standard I believe on the 440i) which is also $300 higher on the 430i.

I optioned out both the same way (leather, premium for the nav, HK, M Sport) and the 430i was $1200 more for the same choices.

Ouch!

I optioned out both the same way (leather, premium for the nav, HK, M Sport) and the 430i was $1200 more for the same choices.

Ouch!

I think they're trying to tell you something! Go with the 440. I think you'll be pleased with the smoothness of the 6 and the goodies that come as standard equipment on this model.

Well.... if they're going to twist my arm....
I'm definitely leaning to the 440i, there's no such thing as too much power and ED might bring it close to 430i MSRP anyway. I'm just biding my time to see it in Sunset Orange!

Me too C Guy. I'm contemplating the vert. in Snapper Rocks Blue with the Cognac interior. I'm torn between the Luxury package with all of the bling and the M Sport package with the better suspension. I think the Luxury P will win out because frankly, I don't drive as fast as you use too and I like the bling and the look of the Cognac interior going halfway up the dash. I think I'll be happier with that combo and I'm sure the car with the Luxury package will drive just fine. No rush really. I'm driving a 2005 Chevy SSR in Aqua Blur that I bought new in 10/04 when I retired that's sharp as a tack and as you know is also a hard top convertible. I'll probably wait until the dealers and BMW are not so fat and happy with the new model coming out and will be offering more discounts than they are now.

My Best,
Joe:)

2018 BMW 4 Series LCI Coupe, Convertible, GC - Pricing & Ordering guides

Looks like a preliminary version of the configurator is up:

harleybuc 03-30-2017 06:47 PM

I checked out the configurator it works.

I noticed on the 440 with the sport and track handling packages you now are stuck with 18 rims, where the old configurator you got (must have) 19's.

I'm ok with 18's but it goes 180 out of the track handling package from last month, and you only have a choice of the 1 wheel. This is a bummer for me as I really liked the style of the 19 wheels.

Anyone have any insight as to why this is?

rw11270 04-01-2017 06:56 AM

The configurator has errors all over the place. 430i GC: select Lux Pack - Exec pack checks itself (uncheck Lux - Exec unchecks itself). Check Premium Pack - M checks itself. The config seems to loath red, as its selection completely unchecks any options than bare bones. Still some work to be done. BTW, M-pack may be limited to fewer colors that the guide suggests , e.g. Red. BTW, red cannon be checked for either M- or even Lux.

When would we see the LCI 440i grand coupe' on dealer lots? It went into production March 1, so dealers would start getting these on lots the first week of May?

Also why is the build it now on BMWUSA.com still not showing the LCI for the 440i Grand Coupe', I still don't see any option for Midnight Blue Leather option. Here we are April 1 (1 month after production) and the website is still not updated. Wow.

My 420d MSport was delivered today... and I was shocked as I ordered it as what I thought was BMW offloading pre-LCI stock so I got a pretty sweet leasing deal. I was supposed to get the pre-LCI end of March but was notified of a 'Delay in Factory'. I originally ordered in Jan but the allocations ran out after signing paperwork and was told I would have to wait until feb to re-order as they were tooling over but price would probably be higher. Then my leasing company called me mid Feb and said they had a pre-order car but it would be a Pre-LCI (same deal as before) so snapped it up. At the time I wasn't that fussed but the more I read about the updates I felt like maybe I would have waited but hey - just please to be back behind a BMW again after 2.5 years in the Nissan wilderness!

When it arrived this morning, I noticed the rear lights looked really slick, totally different to my neighbours 2016 430d... LCI lights???... could it possibly be???? Thought maybe I was imaging it! It was only when I saw the nice double stitching, tiled menu on iDrive and went through the above guide did I realise it was an LCI! Did my monkey dance of happiness in the street then and there!!

I've only ever owned Bimmers with 100k+ miles on the clock so for me today was such a big deal to have one from new. The fact it was an LCI was a cherry on the cake! It feels sooo good to be back guys! :D

Mike, I'm happy for you and that you got a 2018 rather than the 2017 that you were expecting. Enjoy it and welcome back to the fold!

It's been up for a couple of days, I forgot to post it. I like that Essentials Package is no cost but you must have the premium package with it.

Hi, I am new to these forums. I am looking at 430i Grand Coupe's Ordering Guide & I don't see the 6wb Instrument Cluster ? Is this option not coming to the US models or is it going to come latter on in the model year ?

tim330i 06-12-2017 11:39 AM

4 Series prices are increasing as of July 1st. Pricing sheets and first post have been updated to reflect the ~2% price increase. Read more here -> https://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=983597

At first glance my 2013 Estoril Blue M Sport 328i looks identical to the MY 2018s. One of my favorite things about BMW is they remain loyal to their design heritage, something I severely criticize MBZ for not adhering to. The 2018 has valuable evolutionary improvements. Do hope they ditch iDrive for Apple Car Play at some point.

Updated ordering and pricing guides have been uploaded.

That's strange, a guy with the same name as you is getting exactly the same car :)

About 9% off without port accessories is a great deal and below invoice. Go for it.

Thanks again.

sorry to be off-topic, but computer wont let me create new post--is there a way to tell how long car has been on dealer lot? thanks

Can you determine the build date? It's usually on the inside of the driver's door or the dealer could tell you. I'd conservatively estimate 6 weeks after build date for East Coast, 8 weeks for West Coast.

if you get the last 7 digits of the VIN you can look it up by going to http://www.bimmer.work/ and it will tell you the built date.

I hear the 2019 pricing is out? When will it be posted?

Closem Joe 04-15-2018 05:17 AM

Tim,

Every time I visit our site I get advertisers tracking what I do there and trying to sell me things:mad:. I just got Avast Anti-tracking installed and it tells me whenever it get rids of someone trying to track what I do. Your site is loaded with these trackers! What's up with that? This should not be happening. I know that you want to make money but our privacy is more important! Change it!

It's up on the site when you put an order together now. We are putting together our order for a 440 convertible now.

It's been a few years since we ordered a car. what is the time frame?
