Ordered an M4 today, winter tire question

I ordered an M4 cab today with the competition package. The car comes with 255/30/20 tires I believe. I have access to a set of rims and tires from an M3, 5 lug, 120 mm bolt pattern, 17 in. x 7.5 in., 41 mm offset. The tire size is 225/45/17. I realize there is about an inch difference in height which will cause a slightly lower speed to register on the speedometer. My question is will the 17" wheels from the M3 work on the M4 without causing issues with the car and will they fit over the brakes? I did not get the carbon brake package. Got 5.3% off invoice for those who are interested ordered as follows:

No advice on your tire question. I just wanted to say how cool it was that you checked off almost all of the boxes!

No; minimum wheel size is 18" in the F8x.

As was said previously, the 17's will not fit, has to be minimum 18. In addition to that, not all 18 inch wheels will fit.
Also whatever setup you go with, you want the height, diameter and circumference to be about the same or you will run into issues with the traction control. It's not just about the speed being off. It is recommended that the circumference is within 2-3% of the stock sizes.

I greatly appreciate the advice. I'm going to be using the car to go between ny and Florida over the winter. I may just leave the stock tires on and plan trips to happen between snow storms. I was thinking I'd buy snow tires, install them then ship the stock tires to Florida to be installed once I arrived. After thinking about it, it sure seems like a lot of effort. If I have to make an unplanned trip back to ny during a storm I'll just fly back.

Does anyone think the brake upgrade package is worth getting?
