Map updates

I recently purchased a 2014 328d. The maps were about three years old. My local dealer wanted $200 plus an hour of time for the updates. Instead, I went to Bimmer America. For a total cost of $85 I received the 2016 maps on a flash drive as well as the release code. I plugged the flash drive into the console, entered the release number and 45 minutes later my maps were all updated. Since the cost was reasonable and updating was so easy, it looks like I'll keep my maps updated on a regular basis. Bimmer America mailed the update to me within two days of ordering. Thanks for this alternative to an expensive service from my local dealer.

I used the information in this post. I did the upgrade and am very happy with the cost, speed of delivery, and the instructions.

Thanks for the info. Ordered a map update for my 335i and inquired about one for the X5.

Satellite radio activation / map updates

I recently bought a 335i with a few bells and whistles, but noticed it didn't have the Sirius radio activated :(

So me being me I called the local dealer /parts and they quoted me 500.00 to turn it on. I drove into the dealer and received even more sticker shock - they actually wanted 770.00 Canadian (about 100.00 US lol) to get it activated! Just to hook it up and turn it on! I like to be kissed during foreplay...

So I came here and some of you suggested bimmer tech - awesome suggestion guys!

I got ahold of one of their guys Patrys and with a few simple file downloads on my laptop (and 300 Canadian ) I now have a full years subscription ( around 160.00) and an activated radio. Sweet!

They also do map updates and a full host of other remoteinstall/ update/ activations. I highly recommend saving your money and contacting Bimmer tech.

Flash drives are so cheap I don't get why they want the drive returned.

Anyone with the '16 map updates regularly travel the NJ Turnpike? I'm wondering if the maps show the new divided lanes for Cars/Trucks south of Exit 8A. Thanks.

How do I know what year of maps I have? I bought my car used but they did some sort of update with a USB drive the day I bought it. Not sure if it was the maps though.
