Id be willing to bet that your own policy will not cover DV. Youd likely have to go down the path or filing suit against the other insured party and that should trigger their own carrier to settle...

Perhaps but in many cases BMW over shoots residuals by far more than that. E.g my own exec demo 2015 550i MSport lease ($76050 sticker), $57200 ish purchase price back then... current MMR on the car...

Good point but likely only works if you plan on keeping the car long term. In most cases BMW residuals are still hopelessly inflated compared to real world actual values.
