I had the transmission out of my Z3, and the Z4...

I had the transmission out of my Z3, and the Z4 looks the same. Not a difficult diy if you're young enough to work on the ground, or have a lift available.

I bought a set on bay for about $100 and installed myself in about four hrs. I believe the 07 arms are about the same cost, and a alignment shop should do it faster.

It's one part only. The hydraulic pump is mounted on the motor and the whole thing is about 2"dia X8"long.

You can buy a used OEM or new aftermarket on ebay for $25 and up. I would try one of them to see if the problem is solved, but I do think you are correct about the MAFS being the problem.

Some of us enjoy repairing instead of replacing. Moving the unit to the trunk not only ensures that it stays dry, but makes it easy to access in the future.

Since you live in a damp climate the power and ground connections might need cleaning. But start by having the battery load tested and alternator checked at a auto supply store. They do it for free.

Okay, more comment. You say the lines are wet. Is that at the cylinders or banjo fittings or somewhere in the run of the hoses? You may not need new hoses depending on that answer.
