The failure mode is that LPFP is not submerged and hence becomes overheated, so if LPFP is not working hard and/or without fuel submerging it for long then it should be OK.

Is there any fault code/CEL? It depends of LPFP is already burnt or not. 3/8th tank is about 6 gallons, it may be worth a try.

With such low amount of fuel, it is possible that the low pressure fuel pump(LPFP)@fuel tank is broken. Do note AAA suggests not going below 3/8th fuel level, as modern LPFP is submerged in gasoline...

My original plan was to follow BMW's lifetime/100k guideline, then the foreman said refreshing fluid does no harm, and alerted me of brake + coolant coupon, so why not? :)

Others pointed out the fluids are expensive, and tires are expensive. Other than that...

My thinking is that in addition to DIY with lots of hours figuring out, the key to make an old car a good investment is to use acceptable cheap parts too, e.g. no $800 Pilot Sports, no BMW logo...
