I think those are OBD port based wireless gauges. You can achieve the same with Torque app and a smartphone for fraction of the price.

You know how the filter snaps in by the use of few tooth shaped clips on one end of it.

Lift that rear seat (bottom part) and see if you have petrol residue in the seating area. Just pull on the front part of the seat upward. It's snapped in place.

AVIN makes android units for e60s. Not sure of the quality or longevity of these units though. Before you go spending money on new unit though, I would diagnose further. It might be something else.
