That's one of the things BMW did with 335GT, went to higher profile tire with taller sidewalls.

If you had oil going into the coolant, you very likely had coolant going into the oil. This can be confirmed buy the look of the oil when drained for a oil change (Looks like a chocolate milkshake)...

If this is a old worn out motor, then the issue is the main and rod bearing clearances are too large as are the clearances inside the oil pump....

This must be a onetime screwup and they should be able to fix it properly, when you go back and complain ask the service...
