Personally I think the E39 was the last good(ish)...

Personally I think the E39 was the last good(ish) BMW. The warning signs of complexity and unreliability were there in the E39, but it was a mere hint of the nightmares yet to come in later models....

To be fair to bmw evaporator corrosion is down to the part, and other manufacturers have the same issue because they use the same parts. Freezes also the likelihood of user error by not sealing up...
