It sounds like the linkage came off from the door...

It sounds like the linkage came off from the door handle to the actuator. You will have to pull the door panel to get to it but pretty easy job.

That is a good point, the solenoid or starter might have the issue only when hot. Next time it acts up, try giving a sharp rap (or three) to the starter housing with a broomstick or hammer handle....

I went with this one (I didn't see dropping $400+ on a Dinan bar that will accomplish the same purpose)....
