Correct, and EGTs are a telling sign of combustion/engine load/ etc...more often than not, the EGTs will spike on a diesel before catastrophic failure.

Agreed. I will note your wait times when monitoring your EGTs - which likely occurred while idling stationary. This is what I am supporting, not guessing and shutting down whenever you please.

At 350F and higher, you risk cooking off the oil in the turbo, damaging oil cooler line seals, and bearing due to residual heat left in the turbo housing with no oil flow to cool it down.
