Possibly unused speaker wires from a previous install. The large plug possibly a remote CD player (now removed?).
Do any of them go 'live' with ignition switch positions or light switch positions?

2) Remove it and re join the original car loom wires by following the colours.

That should cover it.

Has anyone got the factory towbar Instruction Manual they could scan and send me?

My latest acquisition is an '89 E32 750iL. It has the genuine factory option towbar but no literature on that...

Follow the wires from the detector loop around the key surround trim. The EWS module is quite small. I don't know what signal it sends to the ECU (volt/earth/loop).

The clutch should only energise when A/C or AUTO...

The clutch should only energise when A/C or AUTO is selected - even then you should be able to power it down. Trace back and find out where it is getting this feed from.

Indestructable E32 - 730iL 260,000km

Just driven 1700km in 2 days - fixed a car for a friend at 750k's.
Cruise at 60mph - 100kph for 5 hours at a time.
Never missed a beat - seats still supportive - no aches at the end of the day....

Solenoid is at the base of the lever inside the car. The rest is now easy. I would bet it involves TORX screws though.
