Bought it new & still have it.
Mileage is 56,080 original miles.
Think I'll still have it iin another 16 years!

Rear Cover

I not only use the BMW rear cover thor the convertible top rear window, but also use
a 4 inch circular foam section to prevent the rear window from cracking over the long
haul.

He was one of the few who convinced me that I could do it myself.
And this morning I replaced the brake pads on my 2002 Z3 2.5 Roadster in Dakar Yellow!

Back Window on Convertible

I still have my original top & rear window on my 2002 Z3 roadster.
Before I take it down, I insert a 5 inch foam circular beam so that it folds over a curved object. Works well for me & low cost. ...

If it isn't leaking & the water pump is working, I'd replace the thermostat.
My 2002 Z3 had this problem, but it is cheap & easy to fix.

Thanks for the update. I'll go look at the differential again tomorrow, but the speedometer is still working today. Haven't been able to reproduce failure again.

I had that happen on my 2002 Z3 2.5 liter.
I replaced the thermostat & the problem disappeared.
It's a lot cheaper than replacing the whole cooling system & you can check to see if
the cheap fix...

Don't know what happened, but the problem has dematerialized.
Perhaps it was the onset of cold weather & dampness in the speedo cable.
Don't know, but we'll see if it repeats itself.
