Probably not. Where did you get them and what were they on before? On an xi, with that wide a wheel, depending on the tire width, you'll probably hit the fender liners in the front.

Yes, you are much better off with an 18" rim for snow tires because you can go with a narrower tire (cuts through the snow better) with a higher sidewall (cushions you and protects rim from potholes).
