That trailer is too big for an X5, @E36e70. You would be quite unsafe to assume that the guidance from BMW refers only to the "official" stock hitch.

I wouldn't change it. But then I'm somewhat more of a "don't fix what ain't broke" kinda guy. When it stops hitting 80-82 C, there's still plenty of time to replace it before it becomes a problem....
