It's possible to bypass the AC pulley and continue to drive the car. I've been doing that for years. The belt you need is an AC Delco 6K434. It fits perfectly.

Just cracked 160,000. Using it as my 1/2 time DD. Need to do some suspension refreshing but still drives awesome. Engine is strong despite the unknowns of the previous owners.

I waved at a guy in a debadged 1 series Coupe when he matched my speed on the highway. Not sure what he was thinking but he matted it and took off. I just kept on going with the cruise control.

Any misalignment can cause the belt to walk sideways. Once the edge gets damaged, it's just a matter of time before the belt shreds or snaps.

Removing the plugs is probably your best bet at this point. Since you have no idea when they were last changed, start there.
