If you don't register it you simply won't get 6-7 years out of your battery you will get about 5. you will also lose gas mileage. They don't blow up...

Mobil 1 0W40 It's LL1 and is massively easier for me to get in a 55Gal drum than the up-priced BMW stuff that is not any better.

Also the LL1 only matters if you are doing the unrealistic oil...

Glad to see the JB weld is working. If it comes back though, I would just use Black RTV silicone. it's under vac not pressure and the black stuff is oil resistant and sticks really well.

I was told by a long time BMW owning friend to simply replace them all every 5 years.

Almost all cars made cince 1999 have used plastic for valve covers and even intakes in order to increase profit margins. It's only going to get worse as time goes on and metals get more expensive.

Yep very common on modern cars because car makers refuse to use real metal anymore. Pontiac had them warp in a way that made a lot of 3400 engines fail with water getting in the oil. so be glad BMW...
