I am too new to the 'fest, so I can't figure out how to find here one probably simple answer to my very simple question: were is the camshaft position sensor is (are) for N62 BMW x5 4.8i E70 engine? One thing if you can advise how to search the database, and the other - if you have an answer to my technical question.
Camshaft sensors (2 each bank, exhaust and intake) are under the valve cover towards the end near cylinder 4 and 8. Their connectors go through the valve cover.

Doug may extend my answer here for the search, but here is my method:

Start from here:
I either walk though the categories or I use the search function on the right. Get's better once you gain experience there.
My other source is where I search for the part number. Then I put this part number in google and search for images.

Example for the cps sensors:

search on NewTis
here I click on "Wiring Diagram (SSP) Intake camshaft" Wiring Diagram (SSP) Intake camshaft
On the wiring diagram I click on the blue label of the part: B62241 NewTis link for B62241 and this brings me to related links. First one is "Installation location" Installation location B62241

As for how the part looks like (realoem became very slow recently): Realoem
search for camshaft: Camshaft

then put it in google and search for images: Google search for cps
