No, ALL European cars have two year scheduled brake fluid. Only way one year was recommended is if BMW used DOT3, which is possible on old BMWs like E30.
The two year schedule comes from two things:
1. DOT4 has much higher boiling point.
2. Technical inspections in Europe require brake fluid flush every two years. In Europe before registration you must pass technical inspection and one of the things they measure is boiling point. Adequate boiling point is not possible on brake fluid older than two years.
I had BMWs in Europe, among other cars before moving here, and they were ALL on two year schedule.
