Glad I Found this Forum!

Thank you very much to the original poster for providing the DYI guide and giving me the confidence to try this myself.

The price quote I received from my trusted neighborhood BMW auto repair facility (that I use all the time) was $206! Which included $70 for labor and $126 for the two struts).

I purchased a pair of Stabilus Struts from AutohausAZ http://www.autohausaz.com/pn/SG402050 for $60 ($50 plus $10 s/h).

The install took me about 25-min for both struts, however after having done it once, I could probably do it again in under 10-min.

What I learned:
1) Sliding out the strut after removing the top c-clip was not possible (for me) without first removing the clip on the bottom with a very thin flat screwdriver.
2) When replacing the strut, make sure that the top end of the strut is facing up (not down). As an earlier poster mentioned, the trunk will not close if you do not install the strut with the top end facing up.
