Thought I’d provide a little feedback. I guess I didn’t mention my car has a Stage 3 Dinon in it. Someone was nice enough to put it in new and trade it in 1 year later with 10K miles on it. The dealer claims the “Powertrain malfunction” error and CEL was due to a leak in the Dinon carbon fiber cold air intake. Dinon is supposed to provide a warranty equivalent to the BMW factory warranty but in fortunately, my dealer doesn’t work on them so I’ll have to drive it down to Kansas City to get it addressed there.
I’m not sure I’m convinced about the powertrain malfunction being due to the Dinon.
However, when my dealer had the car, the driveshaft recall replacement became available so they were able to do the recall repair. I think it became available on May 2 IIRC. So if anyone hasn’t, give your dealer a call as they should be able to get the parts now.
