Oil leak

I have a 2005 325xi. I was losing oil and found I was leaking from the valve cover gasket. I replaced that but I am still losing oil (about a quart a week). Every once in a while I will get a puff of smoke out of the exhaust which is completely random as far as timing. Any ideas on what to focus on?

Do you have traces of oil on the engine or somewhere else after replacing the Valve Cover Gasket? The first that come to mind is Oil Filter Housing, as they are known to leak but you should see traces of oil. If you don't see any traces, pull plug out and examine them to make sure you don't have a leak into a cylinder, since you mention about exhaust puffs at times.

I didnít seem to find anything from a quick look in the engine bay. But I havenít really got to inspect to much. Iím thinking it may be internal. With the random puffs from the exhaust and occasionally the car starts to idle rough likes itís getting loaded up. Someone mentioned valve guide seal, but Iím not to educated that deep.
