New recall on 2006 and maybe others

Just noticed this the other day and mine is affected.

APR 04, 2019 | Recall Campaign No.19V-273
Positive Crankcase Ventilation (pcv) Valve Heater

Description of Problem

This recall involves an engine component known as the Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) valve heater. The PCV valve heater may not have been produced to specifications. Over time, it could deteriorate and, in rare cases, could lead to overheating.

Safety Risk

If overheating occurs, then in rare cases, this could lead to melting of the PCV valve. In extremely rare cases, this could lead to a fire.

Description of Repair

The PCV valve heater will be inspected and a new part will be installed. If necessary, additional components will be replaced as determined at the time of repair.

For additional information or assistance, please contact Customer Relations and Service at 1-800-525-7417 or via Email at [email protected]

So if the pcv valve is inspected and looks okay, will they repace it anyways?

They replaced mine and the alternator bolts.

I had mine replaced last week under the recall. The "heater" is just a wire coiled inside the pvc hose. The hose itself is plastic and gets brittle with age and heat. Mine snapped in two last week when I removed it to replace my valve cover gasket, so the recall was just in time.

Did you get a recall notice in the mail or did you just take it in?

They're replacing them. Once they've done the work to get to where they can pull the part to inspect it, they've already incurred most of the cost, so they're installing a new one.

Just got mine done yesterday. It's about an hour and a half job.

Email them here [email protected] or any dealership can tell you if you are subject to it.

I called my dealer first to see if my car qualified, then I made the appointment.
