Remove the headlight lens

My headlight lens looks terrible. After our rainy season, I took my headlight out for check up and found at least a quart of water plus a whole bunch of sand, yes sand, lots of it in there. I also need to rewire the entire headlight. Does anybody have any information on how to remove the lens cover from my headlight so I can clean the big film of dirt from it or how to rewire my headlight without losing track of it? I would be very grateful to whoever can help me with this.

As far as I know, the lens is bonded to the housing and I don't see a way to remove it without damaging both. Also, I believe the only openings to the assembly are where the bulbs insert, so not sure how all that water and sand got in there. Perhaps someone else can weigh in on this.

From the posts Iíve read on this issue.... the leakage/moisture issue is a result of the failure of the seal where the light bulb is inserted. When the seal has been replaced, posters report the issue going away.

It makes eminent sense for the seal to be the cause....

Cleaning the interior of the assembly.... you said you had removed the assembly.... use a solution of water and a soil remover and pour in.... shake away. Do this a couple of times until it seems clean. Change the solution to Windex window cleaner...shake as above.

Use clean water to rinse a couple of times, then position it to drain/dry. Finish off with a hairdryer blowing into assembly.

Install new seal.

Wiring... take a photo of wiring close up. Use tape to label wires downstream/upstream of where you cut to replace wires...
