Cranks, No start

Hi, new here. I am working on my grandma's 2000 Z3 2.3 while they are out of state dealing with family issues. I would really like to get her Z3 going before they get back but I don't seem to be getting anywhere and hope someone here can help. My knowledge with BMW's are minimal anyway lol

So, the car cranks just fine. Cranks and cranks but doesn't fire. I tried pulling codes with my BT OBDII reader and didn't get any faults.

- I wasn't hearing the fuel pump priming at all so I checked fuel pump fuse in driver side fuse box under the hood, it was fine.

- I pushed in the valve on the fuel rail while someone was cranking the car and there was no pressure.

- Checked the plug to the fuel pump for power through the access behind the passenger seat (pretty convenient design I will say). When I turn the key to ON position, I get 12+volts for just 2 secs and returns to 0. So it seems like the pump is receiving power but is there another signal it needs before it will actually run?

The 2 second interval is to prime/pressurize the fuel injection system. When connected the pump should run for the 2 seconds. If it does not run, the pump is defective.

Test the pump by connecting a 12V electrical source directly to the terminals of the fuel pump. If the pump does not run, that is the problem.

Right, I know it should be priming when the key is on (also why I checked the rail for pressure to make sure because like I said, I couldn't hear it running at all but wanted to see anyway) but I noticed the plug has two other wires and didn't know if there was another signal it was supposed to get from another relay/module for it to actually power on even if it is getting the 12V.

The other two wires are for the fuel gauge level monitor
