Hello, I have a 2003 525i that I lugged over to Hawaii and the Navtech disk will not work. I had the 2002-1 North America disk but it doesn't work here. I just bought the 2002-1 Northwest & Southwest disk off off Amazon. It said it works for Hawaii but it doesn't. Navtech discontinued making disks or having any info on which one I need. I live on Oahu specifically. Anybody know of a hawaii disk?

Get a hand-held GPS for $69 on ebay.

Why do you need map on Oahu, the place is so small you can memorize the streets (just kidding, someone will come along and help you)?

I just saw some DVDs for sales on ebay. Just go to ebay and enter "navtech bmw".

Did you ask the Oahu BMW dealer?

In a pinch, keep the mountains on the left and the ocean on the right :)

Try driving in downtown Hoholulu or finding an address in pearl city then tell me why I don't need a GPS Nav. It is easy to get stuck going 20mins in the wrong direction here (pluse no one numbers their buisnesses). The biggest reason is that The GPS is a piece of equiptment that is supose to work so I like it to do so. The pivot point on me buying this car was that system. I was using it more when I was on the mainland (traveling a lot for work) but it is a really cool feature. You get in the car an see that big screen light up and go "damn this car is cool". I have to have my toys and I like having things that other cars don't (without being tacky and showboat). I also want it working when I sell/trade this car in for my next. I guess I'll just go to BMW in Honolulu and see if they can get me the disk. I am put-out that the disk I bought off Amazon said it had Hawaii and did not.

Did you call the dealer?

Mark, I did call BMW they have a disk for $199 plus tax. I was gripeing about the cost when one of my engineers said he was a former BMW mechanic and he may beable to pull some strings to get me a copy or atleast a cheaper price. I don't even care if it is an old version. I just want it to work. I hate having a big blank screen.
Thanks for following up.

Buying a car based on built in GPS isn't a great idea; they're insanely expensive new, get out of date in no time, and are easily replaced by a $69 unit from walmart. And they usually are proprietary in some way causing the current problem. It's a sexy feature until you look more closely.
