I am "reposting" David51 's steps on coding M-Performance Brake / Calipers for the archives for anyone who may be searching for the same issue... Thank you to David51 for providing us with the help and possible solution.

=> Connect
=> Expert Mode
=> Coding
=> Read FA
=> Save FA
=> Editors and viewers
=> FA-editor
=> Go to HO-Wort and right click on "Edit," then type "SPBR" under the HO-Wort file
=> Select the FA, right click "Enable FA" and "Calculate FA" to verify that no errors are found after adding the SPBR.
=> Check the vehicle profile to locate the "" aftermarket retrofit "and check" SPBR_18_ZOLL_SPORTBRAKE "has been added to the file
=> Write (write) FA to your car. No confirmation window will appear after saving the FA to the car
=> Expert Mode
=> Coding
=> Read (read) the FA. You are able to see SPBR be added to the HO-Wort folder on your car.
=> Read SVT, and locate the "DSC" (File Folder SVT / ECU / DSC), then right-click the "DSC" folder and select "Code". Consolidation should start immediately.
=> Allow the coding is over, and repeat step 1 to save a copy of the new FA.
=> Disconnect the car's computer. The M-Performance brake is now activated and enjoy the authentic experience of M Performance brake.

Quick update for me.

I had the same spongy, lower brake pedal position right after installing my M Performance brakes on my F15 X5 and the brakes were bled correctly. Shawnsheridan figured out that for the F15 the HO Wort code to add isn't SPBR for my car. I tried to add it and it kept giving me an error. He figured out that for the F15 the code is SBRE for the performance brakes because its what bmw's ISTA/P codes to the car at the dealer. Sure enough I coded it following the instructions posted and the car look SBRE without any issues. Took the car out for a spin and the pedal feel/effort improved DRAMATICALLY! Its back to how it was stock if not better simply from coding SBRE. Those with the M brakes or any aftermarket brakes needs to have this done because your brakes could feel so much better.

Lots of people thought i was nuts when i told them coding is whats causing my low pedal feel. Sure enough this is exactly what it is. I guess the DME is able to increase line pressure to compensate for the larger calipers to retain the stock pedal height.

what you're describing is exactly what i am experiencing. as others have stated if it isn't from improper bleeding it is 100% coding factor.

Has anyone had a 3rd party garage do the hardware install? Cost? Experience?

A local BMW performance shop will be doing mine next week. I've never used them but my favorite VW tuning shop recommended them. The dealer didn't want the business because I didn't buy the parts from them. Total labor quote is $908 all in.

Just had my local dealer order 34112221445 x 1 (Red) and 34206797598 x 2 for install on my 2016 Alpine White M-Sport Package F31 sometime in the next two weeks. I made my concerns about the programming very, very clear so a Master Tech will be doing the install. For the benefit of anyone looking to do this upgrade I'll report back with my results. I also plan to double-check the programming just to be 100% sure!

Just got the car back home and I'm pleased to report everything went smoothly. The pedal feel is much improved and I didn't notice any additional noise. Cosmetically it's a whole different car (to my eye anyway).

Status Update... Currently in the shop... Learned that the part number for the rear rotors is actually 34206797600 for my application. The dealer placed a FedEx order for the correct rotors. I guess the 328d xDrive has the big axles! Expect to have the wagon back late on Friday.

Status Update... Picked up my F31 late in day on Friday (too dark for pics). The install appears to have been successful. Pedal feel is great! The code was correctly adjusted for SPBR and the larger rotor sizes. Looks fantastic!

The only thing strange I noticed is that some of my profile settings have been reset. A quick check showed a new version of Bluetooth software had been installed.

After the rebate the total cost was $3,030.

There's also a $300 rebate right now (U.S.) if you purchase from a BMW dealer:

I missed that somehow. I paid about $200 more after all was said and done. It was a butt load of $$ even with the rebate.

Leon, do you have any way to verify the rotor size settings in DSC ECU?

I was able to add SPBR to VO via HO-Wort but my 2016 doesn't look anything like the screenshots I've seen on the forums for the rotor size setting within DSC.

Thx,
J
