2014 X1 Won't start

This morning, I got in my car, pressed the start button, everything flickers and goes dead. No crank, nothing. Later on, I get a bunch of warnings such as ABS failure, passenger restraint failure, and then the alarm goes off.

After a while it seemed to reset by itself, and I was able to unlock the car as though everything was fine. But when I tried to start again, same thing - Flickers on the dash, lights go off, done.

Is this a simple battery issue or something else? What steps can I take to debug.

DEAD BATTERY - Door locks require very little "juice" to operate ... Not so the rest of the car!
Search the forum ... tons of posts.

Without actually testing, it sure sounds like battery failure to me.

With the vehicle OFF, BEFORE trying to turn it on or crank it, take a multi-meter to the battery. What does it show for voltage ?

I used the 'hidden' menu feature and the voltage shows 12.2 when off, and around 14.8 with the car on. I don't have a multi-meter, so I used this technique

A 2014 car would have been manufactured in 2013, seven years on the same battery. Iíve heard of AGM batteries going longer, but you are probably due. If you have access to a AGM compatible charger, hook it up overnight and see if it helps.

Ok, the dealer quoted me $260 for the AGM battery, so I think i'm going to go with that.
For battery registration using INPA, I don't see E84, so can I use N20 engine option under the F30 menu ? I couldn't find any threads on this on the forum.

That not a bad price for a battery from the dealer. An AGM of the right size is going to be about $200 just about anywhere else. If the dealer puts it in, I would think they would also "register" it with your car's computer.

I got a AGM battery at Advance for my 2015 X1 XDrive28I. Installed it and bought a reader through Amazon. Registered the battery with no issues.

I believe they are 2 sizes and I went with the bigger battery. I ended up paying $154.
