New display with CarPlay installed

It has just about everything you want, only thing I have to get is the wireless CarPlay adapter. Came out great, install took about two hours. Got it from 4x4shop.ca

First pic is before, second one is the Android system and the last one is CarPlay.

So this replaces the original screen? Can't wait to see a review of how you like it!

Yes, it replaces the OEM. So far I love it, you can also have it connect to your phone hotspot so it can have internet access. Very cool stuff, CarPlay works great, I have the wireless CarPlay adapter on order.

I'm curious - why would you replace the factory OEM iDrive ? I'm only asking our of curiosity. My X1 doesn't have iDrive at all, so I would definitely "add it" per this kit, but if I already had it, I'm not sure what the point would be to change it ?

Simple, I wanted CarPlay... The other thing was a larger screen, with ALL the things this can do, its FAR better than most OEM's.

Interesting, so you find it THAT much better that it was worth ditching the OEM ?

Hi, can you share where you are getting the wireless carplay adapter? I took a look at that 4x4shop.ca and the screen looks great but I didn't see an option from them to get wireless.

Also, how is the sound quality? I've heard mixed reviews on these android units and a lot of people complain about poor quality because the sound is connected through an aux cable.

BTW, I have factory CIC and I'm also considering replacing with something like this. CIC is pretty outdated and the NAV is completely useless compared to google maps or Waze.

sound quality is a matter of opinion. to me it sounds just as good as the OEM. With regards to the wireless carplay, The 4x4 site has them if you ask but i got mine from amazon. Carlinkit Wired CarPlay Dongle/Android Auto for Android Car Navigation Stereo Head... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07RZC7MCW..._IoAQEbWHDCNV7

it's half the price of what 4x4 wants. mine should be here by this weekend.
