Compressor

How difficult is it to replace the compressor in a 2013 X1? I can't find any tutorials anywhere. I hate to shell out money to a service shop if I can do the work myself.

Thanks

Why do you think that your compressor (HVAC IHKA I presume) needs replacement. That is HIGHLY unlikely.

Look on NewTIS.info. The prerequisites and precautions before and after are significant.

Well, the clutch isn't engaging. I think the clutch is bad, but I was told you can't just replace the clutch.

Are you sure that you have a clutch and not a swash-plate regulated compressor? Precisely what E84 have you, what engine? Many / most late model BMW have regulated compressors.

That's what the last line of the performance check is about, that 'gages' won't work to troubleshoot a regulated BMW AC system.

First check realoem.com and see what compressors were offered for your specific X1. Then you will have part numbers and can find out which type you have. I just went through this with my X5 to figure out if mine was clutchless or not. Newtis.info will have replacement steps.
