broken radio attachment clip

So after replacing the bulbs in my OBC I decided the dim radio display was next. While trying to remove the main black cable, the clip breaks on one side. It won't snap down in place really hard like it should. Does this have any control over the radio's function? I want to just finish breaking the whole Damn clip off now. I haven't tried putting the radio back in because a stripped screw has put off soldering until tomorrow.

So much hassle for some dim screen!

If there is one rule which much always be followed when working on an E36, it is to never rush when working on anything that is plastic. Seriously, you can break more plastic in an E36 in 60 seconds than you ever thought possible.

No idea about your actual question, though. I imagine you can get the plug back in, and although it won't be held in tightly, it may still work. Might come out again after a few big bumps, though. Who knows. Good luck with the soldering project. I did the same repair on my car, and it's worked perfectly ever since. Just FYI: Don't even both opening up your stereo unless you have a tiny (like really tiny) tip for your soldering iron. Anything bigger than the absolute smallest possible tip will be way too big.
