Has the battery been checked/ruled out as NOT being the culprit? If the battery's voltage is low...it could cause the issues you listed...and still be able to illuminated the instrument cluster and other small electrical items...but not have enough power to start the car.

U1182 means no signal between EGS (transmission) and DME. U1187 doesn't return anything in ISTA.

You may want to disconnect the battery negative terminal to reboot all modules, clear errors, and try to start it again. Of course, make sure the battery is good. If it still doesn't start, open the secret menu in the cluster (search around for instructions, there's quite a few guides and videos) to get the BMW fault codes as the SAE codes aren't much help here.

I left my car in the on position once and ran the battery to 0. you cant just charge the battery, or jump the car, you have to charge it in steps, the car cuts off charging if it happens too fast. I had to charge it for a few minutes at a time for about 10 iterations before I could just walk away from the charger.

There's no IVM on this chassis. Did you test the battery? Do you hear the starter solenoid click?

try a trickle charger to slowly charge the battery or go buy a new one to see if that will help

Update, after slow charging the batttery, we plugged in a scanner Mattis 8 scanner into the car, it powers on and is able to communicate with all the modules in the car, Transmission , BCM, all other modules BUT the ECU. Could this be the main culprit? Secondly it if is the ECU that may have gone out or is refusing to communicate, what are the least expensive methods of getting this rectified. I heard that only the dealer can reprogram a new ECU to the vehicle. Let me know what you guys think. Would a used ECU be reprogramable to this car with after market equipment. Im trying NOT to spend a whole lot.
