7 Series - G11 / G12 (2016 - current)
The next generation G11/G12 BMW 7 Series flagship forum. Unveiled June 10th, with production starting in August the 6th generation 7 Series comes in a light weight package with extensive use of BMW i carbon fiber technology. The interior quality raises the bar with a touch screen and gesture controlled infotainment system. Exterior styling has been a sticking point with mixed reviews so far.

Bowers and Wilkins really sucks compared to Bang and Olufsen

I am really sorry to say that, but my Bmw 750 li Bowers and Wilkins really sucks compared to Bang and Olufsen in the previous 7 series. Today I compared both of the systems and the Bang and Olufsen is three levels above the Bowers and Wilkins!!!
can someone tell me how can i upgrade under seat Subwoofers? is there a powerfull and thin enough subwoofer to replace the b&w s?

for sure the new bowers is subpar compared to band and olufsen. before the band and olufsen was a must, if i ordered now i would likely go with the harmon as the bower is weak and unimpressive and actually kind of childlike at night.

I'm hoping that others with the B&W chime in, I have the B&O in my F02 and love it, but it's a 14 and I am thinking of going with a G12. I was told by the stalesman at the stealership that the B&W was head and shoulders above the B&O, but they didn't have a 7 with that option that I could check out.

I prefered the B&0 system in my M6 then the B&W on my B7 today. I do prefer the B&W over HK.

We have a Volvo XC90 and a BMW 750.
I much prefer the B&W system in the XC90 than in the 750. I can not comment on the B&O system in the prior 7 series as I never heard it.

Sound engineer here with a new 750ix and B&W. Previous vehicle was a F15 X5 with the H&K. To my highly trained ears, the B&W is by far the best sounding mobile audio system I've ever heard. I cannot compare it to the Bang and Olufsen, but it's worth every penny if you're a true audiophile. My only slight complaint is that the low end frequencies tend to get a bit muddy and blend together at times, but this is forgivable because the rest of the tones come through with a clarity only heard on the highest end home systems. I'm not sure what the other posters are complaining about as they don't site specific reasons for their dissatisfaction.

The problem is you guys are all too young. Wait a few more years and it won't matter, when partial hearing loss possibly sets in they all sound the same like a cheap AM radio with one dash mounted speaker.

HAHAHAHAHHA! I'm in my 30's so I've got a ways to go, but as the owner of a couple classic muscle cars I know exactly what you mean with the single buzzy dash speaker! Too funny!

I agree with this 100%. I have owned six different 7 series cars over the past 21 years. Each time I get a new one, I upgrade to the high end audio system. Of all the ones I've ever had, the current B&W one is the best I've ever heard. Much better than the previous B&O system. Great bass, not thumpy but deep and strong, excellent soundstage, and perfect balance of midrange and treble. All around excellent system.

Another vote for the BO vs BW but my BO is in the X5 and the BW in the 7. I have been wondering if it may be the cabin acoustic of the X that makes the difference. Overall I would still not say that the BW sucks, but for $3k it could be better.

B&W here, and love it. The "studio" preset is what I use. Really love the accurate, correct sound with minimal coloration in my G12.
I did have people commenting how it is "not impressive" and cranking up the base, trebles and rear-seat speaker volume to make it sound "full to their ears". I thought they were tone deaf.

Most people have no idea what good sound is. They think the bass has to shake the seat and the treble should pierce your ears. They don't have experience for what the music is supposed to sound like. I hate to say that but it's true. Every time I get in a loaner BMW the bass is cranked up to where it's muddy and way overdone. Not sure how anyone could ever think that sounded good. I guess if all you listen to is rap music or death metal, lol. But anyone who has actually listened to high end home audio systems will be very happy with the B&W. It's as close to audiophile quality of any system I've ever heard in a car.

"Every time I get in a loaner BMW the bass is cranked up to where it's muddy and way overdone." that's my experience as well, even as recent as the last service loaner.
But I figured not everyone play music, or had exposure to the sound engineering. So really the best thing people can do is to grab a few of their fav records, go to a music studio (or a friend with real near/mid field studio monitors) and carefully listen to how the record sounds like on professionally calibrated systems. Then compare, train your ears.
Or just ignore and enjoy it the way you like it, it is meant to be fun anyway no need to complicate!

I'm very, very hard to impress with audio, and the B&W system is the best car audio system I've ever heard by a mile. Pristine, colorless, transparent. Excellent staging for a car.

I'm completely with you on that. For my ears nothing has come close sound quality wise, outside of top tier Burmester systems from Mercedes.

My preference--I suspect yours, as well--is to hear the music as it was meant to be heard by the studio that produced it. That can be radically different from other preferences.
