Cool You've got to read this amazing story...

No kidding, I have a customer (Bimmerfest member) who raced to get in on the M2D incentives at the last minute, and we managed to modify an existing X5 xDrive35d order in 112 status just under the wire, at the last possible moment. I figured it would be at least four weeks until we saw the vehicle. Well, I pulled up today's availability report, and BOOM, there it was on the list of "Vehicles at Final Processing Center"... This has got to be some kind of a record...

In the early 2000's when BMWNA launched the present iteration of DCS (Dealer Communication System) they talked about a new "Lean Distribution" model of vehicle delivery. For the first time ever we now had the ability to prioritize our sold orders ourselves, and bona-fide "Sold Orders" began receiving true priority. Before this time, the average customer waiting time was considerably longer than it is today...

Still, 2 weeks from "keystroke" to virtual doorstep is just plain insane, considering that also included a cross-country train ride...

Are CA's working like contractors these days? Meaning there is an "early delivery" bonus ? Nice job!

CAs had nothing to do with this beyond taking the order.

It's a tribute to Vehicle Distribution Dept. of BMWNA.

I would like to add a little more insight on this.

When the units are discharged off the vessel, each vehicle is scanned and based on the latest updated internal BMW info (vpc to dealer) hot/sold units are prioritized and put in a separate location vs the stock to dealer units.

Also, the units are loaded in a way that most priority are discharged off the vessel first giving the VPC a good chance to prep for dealer delivery.

This system is used at every discharge port giving BMW the opportunity to deliver at a faster rate.

It truly is a remarkable task

Buddy i hope you realize X5s are released to SC VPC first. Then another 15 days or so to reach OX VPC.

Unless they've changed the way the DAR Pipeline Detail reads in the last 8 years, and "At Final Processing Center" no longer means
what it used to (I suppose it could maybe, because technically there is no longer a West Coast VPC in exstence, only a VDC in Oxnard now)?

Either way, pretty phenomenal from phone call to VDC in this short window...

Jon - I think you see AT VPC SC. If you see VPC OX - then you are correct.

I've seen an X5 in four weeks once - but only once
