7 Series - G11 / G12 (2016 - current)
The next generation G11/G12 BMW 7 Series flagship forum. Unveiled June 10th, with production starting in August the 6th generation 7 Series comes in a light weight package with extensive use of BMW i carbon fiber technology. The interior quality raises the bar with a touch screen and gesture controlled infotainment system. Exterior styling has been a sticking point with mixed reviews so far.

Saw it today...Much better in person!

Was at a BMW event today where they had a normal and M version of this car. Exterior-wise it is a bit of an upgrade compared to the outgoing 7-series. But interior is a major upgrade and looks/feels incredible. Interestingly, even the car without the Executive lounge has a much better rear seating area than the current model and feels so much nicer! Most everyone was impressed with the features, styling and tech.

My favorites features:

- Touchscreen Navi
- Parking Cameras/Sensors have gotten a major overhaul. 3D option available as well - really cool & helpful for curbside parking
- Large Panorama moonroof with LED Lighting (Skylounge)
- Much more comfortable rear seating area (even with just Luxury Rear Seating pkg)
- Wireless phone charging, BMW will release a sleeve for iphones soon as well
- M-Sport pkg (definitely looks sportier and nicer)

Was there as well today! Absolutely amazed at it in person, the tech inside, and how comfy it was (that rear seat executive package was greattttt and those "pillows" were very comfy)They started the Msport version and it had a nice little growl to it on start! Pleasantly surprised!

Think I left early...missed the engine startup

The 'pillows' are a nice touch, makes seats much more comforting.

4.3 0-60 is nuts for a 750Li ! With a little bit of tuning you'll be at M5 p[erformance. The looks have grown on me a bit - I'm thinking Mineral White with the black chrome. If I get one, I'll probably wait until orders can be put in for the 2017 model, since they really stuck it hard to the 650 owners in 2012 when they added so many features for the 2nd model year in 2013. Additional 45hp, soft close doors - all within 6 months of the 2012 release...

Definitely wait it out. First year run is going to have issues anyway that BMW would improve-on/fix in MY2017. My guess is Winter 2016, along with a BMWCCA membership, would be best time to buy a 7-series.

Any idea whether the switchgear (i.e. the electric windows, door handle, AC panel and etc) are just coated plastic or real aluminum?

At least the AC panel seems to be made of aluminum, judging from the pictures , but not sure about the electric windows and etc

FYI, first post ever on these forums guys, so I would like to say hello to everyone around here

I didn't touch any of the center console button. Just the ones on the rear seating area that control massage etc. They didn't feel aluminum, as far as I can recall, but certainly didn't feel cheap. Everything has a nice premium feel to it.

I played with them (this car actually has interior door handles, no more people fumbling as they try to figure out how to shut the car door!), they felt like real aluminum to me, but I didn't ask anyone if they were.

If those buttons are real aluminum, I'd be impressed. If they are just coated plastic that's a really bad idea on BMW's part as it's almost certain to peel at some point.
