7 Series - G11 / G12 (2016 - current)
The next generation G11/G12 BMW 7 Series flagship forum. Unveiled June 10th, with production starting in August the 6th generation 7 Series comes in a light weight package with extensive use of BMW i carbon fiber technology. The interior quality raises the bar with a touch screen and gesture controlled infotainment system. Exterior styling has been a sticking point with mixed reviews so far.

New 7 Series

Other than some spy photos and other unconfirmed reports, this car has not been seen by anyone outside of BMW's corporate offices. I got invited to the new 7 series [very private] reveal this past Wed (6-3-15). It was held in Sands Point Long Island and was pure class from beginning to end. There were only about 30-40 people who got invites. Frankly, I have no idea how I scored one but I'm just happy I did. The held it in an $11M mansion right on the Long Island Sound. To say the venue was stunning is an understatement. The President of BMW N. America (and other assorted BMW bigwigs) was there to explain the car's features and advancements. It is truly magnificent and they are claiming a 0-60 number of 4.3'. I know no one buys this car to drag race, but let me repeat that...4.3". That's Ferrari territory. I wish they let us take photos but they were very serious about maintaining the secrecy of this car before the official reveal so they collected all of our smartphones, etc before allowing us to enter. It was very 007, if you know what I mean. We got to sit in the cars and play with all the features and controls and I can assure you, there's not one thing in this car that doesn't scream 'quality.' God knows what this thing will cost but I'd guess around $105k. Trust me though, you will be very impressed with this vehicle. Me, I'm a 5 series guy so I'm pretty happy in that I figure most of the features will find their way into the brand new 2017 5 series which is when I'll be in the market (probably Sept '16) for a new car.

I can't wait for the G11 to come out. After an initial negative impression, it looks like it is going to be one awesome Bimmer.

IMHO there is no 7 series improvement that impressed me except the changes from the E38 to the E65 other than that, I don't drool over a 7er any more.
