New 2018 440I Vert

Hi Guys & Gals,

I've posted several times about getting a 2018 440i vert. and have done my homework for the past year. Today, I put my order in for the new car. I did a purchase rather than a lease and this is what I got. The new car will be in Snapper Rocks Blue with Venetian Beige Dakota leather with dark Oyster highlights for the interior, 19" wheels in Orbit Grey, style 407, the Essential Pkg., Premium Pkg., Luxury Pkg., Executive Pkg., Neck warmer, Active Blind Spot Detection, Active Driving Assistant, Active Cruise Control & Wireless charging & Wireless Hotspot. Whew, that's a bunch isn't it? I got 5 1/2% off of MSRP [U]plus[U] a $2,000 credit for being a retired Allstate agent. On a brand new model, I'm happy with that and look forward to it coming in around the end of August or the beginning of September. My salesmen, who I have purchased 4 other vehicles from over the years was able to get me a production number right away so there will be no delays. I currently drive a 2005 Chevy SSR with 46,000 miles which I bought new in 10/04. I'm torn about it and don't know if I'm going to keep it or sell it. It's spotless and has a ton of options. If it wasn't for the new Snapper Rocks color or the $1,000 increase in prices eff. July 1st, I probably wouldn't have pulled the trigger. But, I did and look forward to the new car coming in. My wife says, " it's about time ". She doesn't like the truck and gets to much attention when she occasionally drives it. It's color is Aqua Blur and with the 20" chrome wheels it is a knockout.

Congrats!! It will be gorgeous. You're close enough and you're retired, you should take delivery at the Performance Center in Greer (Greenville/Spartanburg), SC.

Hey Raider, thanks for the reply. Why should I pick up the car in South Carolina rather than having it delivered and picked up at my dealer in Sarasota? This must be some advantage to drive to S.C. but I don't know what it may be. Thanks.

No Steven it was their most senior guy, Jack Hojnacki. Jack has been doing this for some 35 years or so and is the guy they all turn too for advice. And, that includes management.

Joe, with Performance Center Delivery in SC after you get yourself there BMWNA puts you up for the night in the Marriott. If you fly in they pick you up at the airport (GSP) and deliver you to the hotel. They provide dinner and breakfast the next morning then they pick you up and take you to the Performance Center. There you spend the morning racing around their track in their cars with professional drivers to guide you along the way. Then they serve you lunch and after lunch you can tour the BMW Zentrum and the SC factory where all the X models are built. Then a Delivery Specialist delivers your new car to you and goes over everything with you and then you're on your way home with a nice road trip ahead.

With the exception of the cost to get yourself there this entire experience is free and it's a load of fun!! It's there for the asking. All you have to do is let your CA know this is how you'd like to take delivery. He will set up the rest. Check out the Performance Center Delivery forum -https://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=136 and the PCD page on BMWNA's website - https://bmwperformancecenter.com/delivery

Not surprisingly Fridays and Mondays are the most sought after days to take delivery, so since you're retired you could do it in the middle of the week and probably have an easier time getting the exact date you'd like.

[SIZE="5"]Thanks for the info. Raider. It really sounds like fun and I'm doing it! I'm going to call my salesmen at the dealership tomorrow and arrange it. What a deal! Thanks again.

Nice choice of colors. Reminds me of Atlantic Blue. Will be a beautiful combination with thigh Venetian beige. Congrats.

Hey Raider,

Last week I did call my guy at the BMW store and told him that I'll take PC delivery of the new 440 in SC. He said that it will extend delivery by two or three weeks but I don't care because I'm driving the SSR. I'm taking my buddy with me so we'll have a great time and maybe a short drive thru the Blue Ridge mountains before we go home to Sarasota, it being Fall and all. Thanks again for your advice and it really sounds like a lot of fun and I'm glad BMW does it. Another reason to buy a BMW!

Regards,
Joe

That's disappointing. I was looking forward to the tour of the factory as well as the track. Maybe they'll put something else in there to replace it like extra time on the track. I'll give them a call and check. Thanks.

You're going to love it. I just got a similarly equipped one but also with the sport package and 704 wheels instead of 407 (still orbit grey though). Snapper Rocks Blue and Venetian Beige are going to be a really lovely color combo. Mine is Smoked Topaz Metallic with black interior. I've had 2 328 convertibles previously and all the bells and whistles they've added since are fun. I mean the car can actually park itself (not that I tried yet)! The front cameras are great for when you are exiting a driveway or something similar and having a hard time seeing around a parked car or whatever (it happens a lot since the car is so low), it gives you a little more insight into what's going on since the cameras are a little farther out than your head is My dad and step mom also got one (theirs is Tanzanite Blue Metallic with Opal White interior) and the collision detection already saved him from rear ending me.

I didn't get any really good pictures of the cars during our recent ED trip. I guess since everyone else was taking so many I just didn't. But here's a not so great snapshot. My stepmom's is in the front and mine is behind it. ETA: Not sure why the picture is sideways, it isn't on my phone or my computer.
