E36 convertible motor access

The motor for the soft top seems slightly loose in its mountings. I assume the bolts come down from above the motor, but I can't see how to get to them. Are they under the lever that looks like a big '2' or . . . ?
Thanks, Anyone.

You can read the cabriolet help thread here:

and I'm hoping dc_wright will hop in here to advise you how to proceed. He's got tons of experience repairing and maintaining the E36 convertible top.

Someone called?

Stop the top just after the rear section has raised up. When you look at the two drive rods and follow them back to the actuator you should see the screws that hold the top motor. Tighten them and you should be good to go.

The top motors are in the trunk, on the left side behind the covers. You'll need to pry off the panel to expose the motors. Just pop the big red leaver under the rear seat to release the motors. When you're finished just push them back in place. Run the top up and down, and hold the button in to adjust the motors to the top.
