2019 X5 USB port

Is the 2019/2020 X5 USB port 2.0 or 3.0?

I think I read the type A port is 3.x. Here is the charging info in case that helps also.

It has nothing to do with amps. The 2.0 is smaller than the 3.0. the 3.0 will accept a 2.0 connector as well as a 3.0, but not the reverse.

The charging info was provided as additional information. Your understanding of the USB 2.0 and 3.0 is not correct. I suggest you review some info on the web as you seem to be confusing the usb level with the connector type.

Correct. 3.0 supports a data transfer rate about 10x faster than 2.0. It is not the connection type.

Everything I have read says a USB 2.0 port is a different size than a USN 3.0 port. The 3.0 port can accept and use a 2.0 connector, but not visa versa. It would seem that at least my 2019 X5 can use a 3.0 memory stick.

Basically, the host end of the USB cable, except maybe on a type C, remains the same size and shape. The port's digital hardware and software support determines the data speed and power capability. While there are lots of different device ends, mini, micro, etc., the other end is the same, at least in how it looks.

The higher the version number, the faster it can pass data, but all of them are backwards compatible, so you don't have to worry about the host end...it will still work with lower numbered interface devices, just won't reach the capacity of the host.
