2012 328i convertible top wont go down

Hi, very new here and this is also my first BMW, so I apologize in advance if this is answered somewhere else or if I dont know all relevant terms.

My hard stopped was weird getting down the other day, it stopped part way through but after closing it all the way it went back down. However, after putting it back up after that it has refused to go down since.

couple of things that might matter but im not sure:
the red light next to the switch is not on
the trunk compartment is down so its not that
when moving if I try to lower the top I get the error symbol and sound (obviously because Im moving) but when I try to lower it when stopped (when it should work) nothing happens, no lights/sounds/movement nada

If anyone could direct me even just where to start looking Id be extremely grateful, all ive found so far is information on syncing the motors but that seems to be for older models.

Thanks so much!

On these cars you always want to check the battery first .
Even more so on the E93.

Getting diagnostics is always a good step.
