Track Days

What is the best way to get our cars out on the track? I thought at some point I read on a club page that they had track days. Now it seems like they're all driving school (HPDE) type sessions. I was just looking to get out there and push the car a bit. I am in Portland so it would be PIR for me.

Surely everyone's figured this out, but HPDE and track-days are generally the same thing. The BMW club has one this coming Thursday at PIR (8/3/2017). I'll be there (driving my Focus RS, though, not my 428).

Not driving school, but also definitely not racing. It's a great way to let your car run a bit in a controlled environment. First-timers can (and probably should) have an instructor ride along but after a couple sessions if you're not a bonehead, the instructors will often let you drive on your own.

Your insurance won't cover anything that happens there, by the way. And be prepared to get hooked, and that's when the expenses really pile on...

If you are a novice, you need to have instruction, Track driving is not just driving fast.

Besides the BMW Club, you can do a track day with:
Hooked on Driving (https://www.hookedondriving.com/);
Cascade Sports Car Club (http://cascadesportscarclub.org/0;
SCCA Track Night (https://www.tracknightinamerica.com/locations/1981694)
