Mein Auto:
usb cable music

i have a 2008 535i. i plugged my iphone 7 into the usb port to play music and this message showed on my screen, "the usb device is not supported." can someone please tell me why? this car should just connect through bluetooth, right? it connects my calls but not my music.... PLEASE HELP. i did not pay thousands to use an aux cord lol

A 12yr old BMW bluetooth system never played mp3, only phone calls, according to everything I've ever read. Put a thumb drive loaded with mp3s in the port.

There are devices you can buy that plug into the Aux and USB ports that will allow you to stream music over Bluetooth. Do a forum search, as this has been discussed extensively.

I can play an iPod through the usb port in the center console in my '08 535i. I think the cable has to be a BMW compatible cable and not just a generic one.

OP needs bmw y cable and 30pin to lighting for it to work. Or buy the WMA3000B streaming which includes the bmw y cable,
