Picked up my 440i about a week ago. Love the car so far. Purchased the enhanced bluetooth, hot spot, wireless charging, etc. packages. I'm a little confused about the Bluetooth Office. From what I'm reading online (manual not much help) I should be able to receive my emails and texts while driving and access them thru Office. I have a Samsung 7Edge phone and paired it with the car. Office is checked under bluetooth options. When I get a text I'm not receiving a notification that I tell. When I hear my phone notify me that I have a text I see the message Icon at the top of the idrive screen. I then have to go thru several screens to get to messages and can review my text. Not user friendly. I can send texts thru this screen and send then via dictation fine. It just seems like I'm missing something. There isn't anywhere in any of the screens to add an email account either. And been thru everything. I tried unpairing and repairing but still no Office.
Shouldn't there be a Office Icon or an easier way to look at my texts and a way to add my email account?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thx,
Dave
Android is not fully supported by BMW Office. So anything can happen at the iDrive screen or just not.
There should be an envelope icon showing when a text is received. There will be no sound generated by the iDrive when the icon shows up. The only way for sure to hear a received text via iDrive is by being already in an USB or Bluetooth Audio source at the iDrive so you own smartphone incoming text sound can be sent to the iDrive and then be heard thru the OEM speakers. Note: you must enable that alert sound in your smartphone; if it is muted at your smartphone then it will not be heard anywhere.
If your Android phone has a Bluetooth feature that can initiate a phone call to send audio alerts (like Nav instructions when a Google Maps directions are in progress) then you could set text message alerts to be sent via phone call and then you could hear the alert via iDrive regardless of its audio source selection. That may or may not be possible with your Android phone.
You can set one of the memory keys to Messages so when you receive a text you will have direct access to it by just pressing that button instead of going thru the menus.

I use this shortcut in my E90, double tap the Idrive phone button to see the message menu. A quick scroll and a push on the Idrive controller and you can read them on screen or play them. I am guessing you can do the same since yours is a lot newer.
