7 Series - E65 / E66 (2002 - 2008)
Discussion of BMW's 4th generation E65/E66 7 Series flagship. The E65 generated much controversy, due to its radical styling and iDrive user difficulties. Nonetheless, the E65 broke records to become the best-selling 7-series iteration ever, especially after its 2005 facelift.

Fuel Pump electrical connector leak - Recall for 5/6 series

Hello all:
I apparently have the dreaded leaking electrical connector to the fuel pump on my '06 E66. It appears 5 and 6 series also had the same issue, and there was a recall issued to correct (16V-746). I suggest anyone who has had the issue file a complaint with the NTSB (https://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/VehicleComplaint/ ). No vehicle should EVER leak fuel into the passenger compartment. Enough of these complaints and NTSB should issue a recall - meaning it should be repaired under warranty or folks should be reimbursed if they had to fix it themselves.
Thanks for the forum for helping me find the problem!

Followups...

I tried to siphon the gas out of the vehicle - it is 7/8 full. Had a 3 foot 1/2 line down the filler pipe and couldn't find gas. Does this vehicle have some anti-siphon technology?

However, what i did notice, is that with the gas cap off for the 45 min I was messing around with this siphon debacle, no gas leaked out of the pump. Maybe the pressure building in the tank is forcing the fuel out the path of least resistance? With the cap off, no pressure can build, so no gas was forced out? Anyone else try this or have a similar experience?

Thanks again
