Gas hose popped out.

Hey everyone, haven't posted up in a while and the E36 has just been sitting in the sun flaking away.. I'm gonna give it one more try at getting it started before I part or just right out sell it. There's a ton of details going on with it but my main issue is that it cranks but won't start. I had been turning it on at least once a month for a about 4 months and was not driving it 'cause i did not have it registered. Every time they would try to run a smog check on the car the test would abruptly "abort". Tried 2 different shops and one was from someone I knew well and neither could figure out what was causing this. I could not even get an official "fail" result cause the test would not even get that far. Anyway, the car just wouldn't start after about the 4th month of sitting. I cranked it so much that the fuel hose popped out of the fuel rail. Is this a clue to what could be the problem?

That could very well be a sign. If I was to take a stab at it I would say you have some serious carbon build up or more common ethanol build up. The ethanol in gasoline these days can actually turn to a thick hardened vaseline type material. This can clogged up the injectors and cause the line to build up alot of pressure and pop your line off. I would remove your injectors and have a look, you'll know right away if you cant see the 4 tiny holes at the tip if that is the issue. Let us know what you try to do! Good luck
